The Oppo F9 is a mid-range mobile that copies the ‘minimalist notch’ of the Essential Phone

The appearance of the notch on the iPhone X caused many Android device manufacturers to copy that design feature. The variants have been multiple, and we have seen in Oppo F9 how the notch can be hidden by software. And could be more or less visible according to each model.

Others have decided to avoid the notch and hide the camera with deployable mechanisms like the Oppo Find X or the Vivo NEX. Now it is Oppo who returns to provide an alternative that was already known but not less remarkable: if you put notch, that is minimalist, like that of the Essential PH-1. That is the bet of an Oppo F9 that we talked about a few days ago. And that stands out more for that than for the rest of its features. Keep reading- THE BEST HIGH-END PHONES – JUNE 2018

A minimum notch for a well-armed mobileOppo F9

That decision of design that we see in the Oppo F9 is its most singular bet, since in front of more complex (and expensive) mechanisms such as the Oppo Find X this device tries to take advantage of the entire screen but without renouncing a front camera that is flanked by that minimalist notch.

In the rest the Oppo F9 is a decent mobile in its hardware bet: it arrives with a MediaTek Helio P60 and a 6.3-inch LCD with aspect ratio 19.5: 9 and 1080p resolution. That screen is also protected by Gorilla Glass 6, the new protective glass that could save us from the odd scare before the fall of our mobile to the ground.

That diagonal of 6.3 inches contribute to being able to integrate a battery with a capacity of 3,500 mAh that is charged, attention, through the MicroUSB port and that offers support for fast loading of Oppo VOOC.

This processor is accompanied by 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable capacity, while in the photographic section we have a dual sensor in the back (16 MP f / 1.9 + 2 MP as depth sensor) and a sensor with some amazing 25 Mpixels and aperture f / 2.0 on the front.

The dimensions are contained for a cell phone with that screen diagonal. And that advantage of 84% of the front allows us to also have a very adequate weight of 169 grams.

A good configuration therefore for a model that still stands out especially for that way of dealing with the presence of the front camera.

Those who are not lovers of that notch on the screens of their phones may accept a design decision like Oppo, which here has been clearly inspired by the first mobile that taught us this type of design, that Essential PH-1 that it ended up failing in sales.

Price and availability of Oppo F9Oppo F9

The Oppo F9 is launched in India and Southeast Asian markets. In addition to other countries such as Egypt and Morocco. But the company has not yet confirmed the price of this device.

Together with him, a more ambitious model has been presented, the Oppo R17. Which was discussed by our colleagues at Engadget Mobile? And who also adopts that small but striking notch, but which for example incorporates a fingerprint reader under the screen.
